“RAW’s mission is to provide independent artists, of all creative genres, with the tools, resources and exposure needed to inspire and cultivate creativity.”
RAW:Perth is a night for the creatives of the city to showcase their work and network with others in the comfort of a fun and vibrant setting. The Rosemount Hotel in North Perth was the location for the event, with 3 rooms displaying colourful and innovative work by a variety of artists and photographers. The main room played host to 4 live bands, as well as the runway showcase and pop-up stalls.
The event closed with the runway showcase, featuring designs by Anna Carla Beachwear, Willa in Spades, Red Opium by Sandra Rives and Qamar Designs. As the models walked the runway, the audience witnessed the time, effort and quality that these emerging designers contribute to their craft. Red Opium’s fitted fashion and shimmering gowns commanded attention on the runway, showing how far designer Sandra Rives has come since her debut less than a year ago. Among the sea of colour and prints on this runway, Qamar Designs shone through with a white-and-gold collection named Chandelier. Flowing down the runway, the quality of the collection was highlighted under the spotlights. Sheer-fabric and feathers maintained a natural and understated look, while the glitter and shine of the fabrics gave the designs elegance and grace.
This runway showcased emerging designers proving they can follow their dreams and create quality designs. Other upcoming designers who are interested in showcasing their collections are encouraged to apply for the next RAW showcase in June.
